Advantages

On a rental bike you can’t go everywhere.

We all know that New Zealand is world renowned for having some of the best scenery in the world but most of this can’t be seen from the open road.  You have to go off road, which rental car and bike companies will not allow.  They actively discourage this.  We actively encourage it!  That’s why we recommend dual purpose mid size bikes from 400 to 650/700cc.  These will keep up with the traffic easily and will also take you off road on gravel and un-sealed areas, where you will see the real New Zealand.  So you will get a trip you really remember.

Rental hassles.

With a rental bike, you have all the hassles of damage, insurance excess, over running your time and what if you decide to alter your plans?  These can be expensive.  With us, you own the bike, so you can do what you please with it.  Sell it, store it, trash it, damage it, we don’t care, as you own it.  If you want to stay longer, no problem, you have complete freedom to go where you want, when you want.

It’s cheaper than a rental for longer stays.

We have simple philosophy when it comes to the process.  We find you a bike you can afford and want, which is a good all rounder.  (As we live here we will recommend certain bikes we know are best for our roads.  But we will find you anything you want.)  When you leave, we will give you a guaranteed price for the bike when you bring it back, dependent on the kms it’s done, condition and price you paid for it.  You then know what the trip will cost.

If you can get a better price privately or at another dealer, then good for you.  We will be fair and up front.  All we’ll deduct for is damage and service items, such as tyres, chains, wheel bearings etc.  But as you own the bike, these are just normal service items anyway.

Price comparison

Lets take a late model BMW 650GS. To hire one of these you’re looking at a price range anywhere from $160-$190 per day for any duration over 21 days.

If you were staying for 28 days, with an average price of $175/day you would be looking at a cost to rent of $4,900 NZD.

With a motorcycle buy back you could be getting the same thing for around $3800 NZD … and if you decide to stay longer you’ll just keep saving money.
